Let's ChatThe University of Florida Football in Gainesville Florida is one of the premier programs in college football. It wanted to create an Instagram effect that would allow fans and recruits to virtually try on the Florida Gators football jersey to enhance their engagement with the brand and feel closer to the team.
Through Blend Media, the University of Florida's team worked with immersive creator Govak Reality, a specialist Extended Reality (XR) team based in Brazil. Govak Reality designed a fully animated 3D avatar wearing a Florida Gators helmet and three realistic uniform variations. The client shared reference photos for the uniform variations, and within a week all three filters were implemented, with Govak Reality developing the required coding, animations, and user interface assets for the effect.
Guilherme Novak at Govak Reality comments: “To create this effect, we dug deep into the Gators' branding and tried our best to research the overall fan x athletes x team dynamics, to provide an AR effect that's adequate to its context”.
The assets are being used on Instagram where fans and recruits could not only try on the jersey but also try out their ball throwing skills. The filters are now live and accessible on Instagram to their 376K followers. You can view the effect here.
